Respect and condolences following the flood tragedy
Following the historic torrential rains and their severe consequences across Roda de Berà, Viu Roda de Berà decided to pause our regular social media activity and refrain from sharing further Festa Major de Sant Bartomeu festivities.
It has been an extremely difficult weekend for our community: many residents clearing flooded homes, over a hundred evacuees sheltered at the municipal sports hall after being displaced from the Arc de Berà campsite, and deep distress surrounding those critically injured by the wall collapse at the Port. Given the gravity of the situation and the conflicting flow of information, the most responsible choice was to remain silent out of respect and to prevent any misinformation.
With the recent official confirmation of the tragic passing of the 18-year-old girl and her mother, we wish to extend our deepest condolences to their family, friends, and loved ones during this heartbreaking time, joining the entire town in mourning.
At Viu Roda de Berà, our purpose is to give visibility to local life and support community organizations, especially during the smaller everyday events that need year-round exposure; the major Festa Major celebrations already have dedicated official channels. In tragic and exceptional times like these, we have chosen to prioritize empathy, respect, and solidarity with everyone affected.
Thank you for your understanding. Rest in peace. 🕊️
